Gabriel Panev

Gabriel Panev

Gabriel Panev is a representative of the contemporary generation of Bulgarian artists. Born in 1970, he graduated the “St. Cyril and St. Methodius” University of Veliko Tarnovo in 1996. While still a student, he searched for his own creative development. Having grown up in a family of artists, he has not fallen under the influence of his parents, but seeks and finds his style and handiwork which symbolises his creative views and the latest trends in contemporary European art. Taking in the influence of the surrealistic tendencies of Western European art, drawing a series of paintings inspired by the beauty of the female body, he reaches the aesthetics of abstraction. The other direction in his art is entirely influenced by his love for music, to which he dedicates pop art portraits of his idols in jazz, funk and soul music. If we try to characterize the peculiarities of his art, it should be noted that it has a rich and varied colour range and bears the marks of contemporary painting. In addition, it uses symbols and signs of Christian and world culture, with which it reaches deeper suggestions and messages to the viewer. If we have to summarize the above, we can say Gabriel Panev is a talented, modern and contemporary artist whose creative achievements are a guarantee for the upward path of development in the field of contemporary modern painting.
